“Lenin reading on foot” monument installed
On April, 22, 1969 the monument “Lenin reading on foot” dedicated to the 100th jubilee of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin was installed at Scientific Center in Zelenograd.

Creation of Zelenograd museum of local history and lore

Creation of Zelenograd museum of local history and lore. In 1992 the museum turned into the state museum. The museum opened at the plant «Angstrem» in 1978 houses interesting materials on city foundation, city-dwellers — participants of the Great Patriotic War, plant history.

Opening of children's music school (¹ 53, on authority of the Resolution of the Moscow City Council of Working People's Deputies from 26th June, 1969, ¹ 28/34). In 1996 the school was named after M.P.Mussorgsky.

The order of the Moscow Government established the Coat of Arms and Flag of Zelenograd administrative district, the 5th district of Moscow that acquired its official symbols.

Memory Alley Opening
On September, 7, 2009 in the 5th microdistrict there took place an opening of Memory Alley to commemorate Zelenograd soldiers who died during their military service in peace time.

“Electron” movie theatre has its 40th anniversary
Zelenograd first movie theatre is going to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

“Electron” movie theatre was established on September, 18 in the year of 1965. Those years a movie theatre was a cultural center of Zelenograd, all city’s public events were held there.

Opening of commemorative plaque in honour of renaming of trafficway ¹ 4912
Opening of commemorative plaque in honour of renaming of trafficway ¹ 4912 into the street of a pilote, the Hero of the Soviet Union Nikolay Ivanovich Polagushin. On the 5th of December, 2002 in the 3rd microdistrict on the house 306 where the Hero of the Soviet Union Polagushin lived there was opened a commerative plaque. Today the former trafficway ¹ 4912 bears the name of the brave pilot who aged 19 took part in warfigting . Over the war years he was shut three times, injured 3 times but he survived and reached Berlin fighting.

Second Alley of the Newborn in Panfilovskiy district.
On October, 13 at 10:30 a grand ceremony of laying the alley of the Newborn by young parents was held in a very picturesque place in the territory of the administrative board of Panfilovskiy district.

On September, 13, at 12:00 in the territory of the Medical Complex of the city hospital ¹ 3, near children’s department there was laid a foundation of the tradition to plant young plants in honour of the newborn Zelenograd citizens.

Swans appeared in Zelenograd pond Bykovo
There appeared swans in Bykovo pond (1st microdistrict) again. This time they’re not white, they are black. They were brought from Germany and were kept in quarantine on the occasion of bird flu epidemic cases. Our birds were found healthy, and they fitted in in the new place quite successfully. A zootechnician was appointed to look after them.

This spring Zelenograd drama theatre “Vedogon-theatre” showed 2 premieres. Both opening nights were a sell-out and favorably reviewed.

Zelenograd Archaeological Union

Zelenograd Archaeological Union celebrated its 30 th birthday. The Union specializations are study of stone age monuments and digging of old Slavic settlements in Moscow and Moscow region, Kaliningrad and Western Belarus. Nowadays the Union is working mainly in 2 fields: metal search and search for late middle age villages and settlements that disappeared after Polish-Lithuanian intervention (early 17 th century)

October, 28, 2009 was the 100th birthday of founding father, electronic industry enthusiast, ex-minister of electronic industry of USSR A. Shokin.
Shokin Alexander Ivanovich (1909-1988) is one of the founders of Russian microelectronics. Minister of electronic industry of USSR(1965-1985).
