The President of GS ROSNANO Anatoly Chubais and the Chairman of the board of directors of JSFC “Sistema” Vladimir Evtushenko signed an investment contract on launching a mass production of IC based on nanotechnology with design rules 90 nm on the wafers with diameter 200 mm. The execution of the document took place during the visit of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to the factory. The investment contract is the starting point for the project that is going to give Russian microelectronic industry a great impetus for development. The project will be implemented on the manufacturing base with the application of “Micron” infrastructure (“Micron” is a part of OJSC “Sitronics”, a major share holder of which is JSFC “Systema”). STMicroelectronics, a leader of Eupopean semiconductor industry, is going to be a technology partner of the joint project. The development of the project makes it possible to set a manufacturing system, including design-centers, research institutes, and companies for microelecronics material sciences. The production to be manufactured on the new plant of “Micron” targets such developing mass markets as digital television, GLONASS/GPS navigation, manufacture automation systems, automobile electronics as well as high security smart cards.

The project is being invested in the form of contribution to the authorized capital of the new joint venture. GS ROSNANO and JSC “RIME and Micron” are its co-founders on a parity basis. The total amount of financing is estimated 16, 5 billion roubles. According to the contract, total volume of GS ROSNANO investment amounts 6, 5 billion roubles. “Sitronics” is to invest in the project an equal share in the form of high-technology equipment of the main contractor of the project – “Micron” plant. In the long term the project will also need debt financing. “This project is of strategic importance” – the President of GS ROSNANO Anatoly Chubais pointed out. Domestic nanoelectronic production plays a key role in securing technological safety of our country as well as in the development of high-technology sector as a whole”. “Each new generation of production technology brings better productivity and lesser chip power consumption. The implementation of 90 nm technology will open new markets for us meanwhile preserving market positions for 180 nm production – the president of JSC “RIME and Micron” Gennadiy Krasnikov marked.
